Bitdefender, a leading global cybersecurity technology company protecting 500 million users worldwide, is proud to announce it has won Frost & Sullivan’s Product Leadership Award in the smart home cybersecurity industry for its world-leading advances in security for the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT).

Frost & Sullivan, a leading provider of growth partnership services that promotes innovation worldwide, recognizes the innovation behind Bitdefender’s breakthrough home cyber security product, Bitdefender BOX, that protects all connected devices in a home. Bitdefender BOX, which combines hardware, software, and cloud, is the first, and still only, product of its kind.

“Bitdefender has essentially created a new, amd much-needed, branch of cyber security with the company’s focus on securing the rapidly expanding Internet of Things,” said  Frost & Sullivan Industry Director Vikrant Gandhi “Bitdefender BOX represents the most effective way on the market to protect a smart home and its contents and the company truly deserves recognition in the form of our product leadership award.”

Frost & Sullivan analyst noted that the average household in the United States has 12 connected devices, and that number is expected to double by 2022, expanding the need for Bitdefender BOX, which protects the full array of smart products, from connected refrigerators to security cameras to laptops and phones. As the IoT grows, so does the number of targets for thieves, spies, and hackers, who can manipulate poorly secured smart devices to steal private data, spy on users, or gain access to a home’s network.

“Bitdefender’s ability to offer the Bitdefender BOX as a product that consumers can relate to and purchase in confidence, as a progression from buying classic cyber security products (or from not having purchased any security products), is key to its success,” Frost & Sullivan analyst, Vikrant Gandhi .

“We are extremely pleased to receive this award, which serves to remind us that we are worldwide leaders in an exciting industry at an exciting time,” said Bitdefender’s Vice President Consumer Solutions, Ciprian Istrate. “It further encourages us in our continuing focus on advancing in the realm of smart home cyber security and compels us to widen our already substantial lead in the sector. The award also underscores the importance of our work at a time when smart devices are becoming critical to the proper functioning of households around the world.”
